2022年5月6日，哈尔滨工业大学（深圳）Bernd R. Noack教授应我系邀请来访，并于工学院北楼1019作题为“Taming turbulence with machine learning control using multiple actuators and sensors”的学术报告。
本次报告由刘宇副教授主持，我系系主任刘轶军讲席教授、夏克青院士、王连平讲席教授、万敏平教授、袁鸿雁副教授、杨东助理教授等老师都到场参加，报告吸引了数十位同学现场聆听。Noack教授精彩的报告不时赢得大家掌声，现场氛围热烈而轻松。与会师生积极提问，Noack教授热情解答，与大家进行了深度的分享交流，会后多位学生表示受益匪浅。

Bernd R. Noack is National Endowed Chair Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), Shenzhen, and Honorary Professorship and Chair in Turbulence Control at TU Berlin. Before, he was Director of Research CNRS at LIMSI, Paris-Saclay and Professor at TU Berlinafter working at UTRC (USA), the Max-Planck Society and the German Aerospace Center.
He develops closed-loop turbulence controlsolutions for cars, airplanes and transport systems. His team is advancing thefrontiers of artificial intelligence in fluid mechanics. He invented and is pioneering machine learning control, the first automated learning of multiple-input multiple-output control laws in experiment. Another focus isplaced on nonlinear control-oriented reduced-order models, including the automated development of digital twins from data.
He has co-authored over 250 refereed publications, including over 100 Journal articles, 2 patents, 2 review articles, 2 Springer textbooks. and 2 other books. He is a Mendeley/Stanfordhighly cited researcher and outstanding faculty at HIT. His work has been honored by numerous awards, e.g., a CNRS Scientific Excellence award(2014–2018), a Fellowship of the American Physical Society (2012), the first Senior ANR Chair of Excellence in fluid mechanics, (2010–2015), and the von Mises Award of the International Association of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics (2005).
