Dr. Chen Xi, currently as a Research Associate Professor, Associate Research Scientist, and Master Supervisor in Southern University of Science and Technology, has been selected in February 2023 as the Eighth Youth Talent Promotion Project of China Association for Science and Technology, and has received the 2022 Excellent New Scientist Award of the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering of the South University of Science and Technology. She graduated from the School of Power and Energy of Northwestern Polytechnical University in 2012 and 2019, with a bachelor’s degree in Aircraft Power Engineering and a doctorate in Science and Technology of Aeronautics and Astronautics, respectively. From 2016 to 2017, she worked as a mechanical engineer in the Large Drives Applications of Siemens AG, Germany. From 2019 to 2021, she worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering, SUSTech. From Jul. 2021 to Dec. 2023, she had served as a research assistant professor in the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology. Since December 2021, she has been selected as a supervisor for postgraduate (master) students. Since Dec. 2023, she has served as a research associate professor in the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering, SUSTech.

Her research interests are in the application fields of rotating machinery, including aero-engines, marine gas turbines, large drive motors, and wind turbines. She has engaged in the theoretical fundamental research on nonlinear dynamics, structural vibration, rotor dynamics, etc.; the numerical simulation research on fluid-solid coupling algorithm, stability analysis, vibration control, etc.; and the engineering technology research on damper design, high-speed dynamic balancing, condition monitoring and fault diagnosis.

Currently serving as a reviewer for more than ten international journals including JSV, ND, Proc. IMechE, ASME, JSM, BSME, etc.; serving as a director of the Rotor Dynamics Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering, and serving as a member of many societies such as the Chinese Society of Aeronautics, the Chinese Society of Astronautics, the Chinese Society of Mechanics, the Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers; applied for and published 5 national invention patents, and authorized 1 utility model patent; hosted or mainly participated in 10 research projects, with a total funding of 14.52 million.
